Hormonal Much?

Totally forgot to mention an extremely hormonal moment on Sunday!

Sunday evening I was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Matt was in the kitchen putting something away in the fridge. A commercial for puppy adoption popped up on the tube, and at about the same time, my ear itched. When I went to scratch my ear, I must have hit a bump or something because it kind of hurt a little. The unexpected "pain" caught me off-guard and I started to cry. Matt thought I was crying over the puppy adoption ad and said, "It's okay. The puppies will find good homes." Well, I looked up at him to find him staring at me and became extremely embarrassed. Like a two year old, I proceeded to flop myself over the side pillow, with hands over head, buried in said cushion and began whaling! By the time Matt got to me I was sobbing heavily with tears streaming down my face. He rubbed my back and said it would be okay. Then, I started laughing hysterically and told him that the puppies didn't make me cry, but that scratching my ear did. He started laughing... and then I started crying uncontrollably again. Flip-flopped back and forth between crazy laughter and sobbing tears. It's just too bad we didn't have a video camera... because that scene would have been hilarious to watch captured on film! Here's to crazy hormones! (Did I mention I love my completely wonderful and understanding husband?)

Lend Me Your Ear?

Yesterday, Baby B and I hit our 24 week mark and have approximately 16 weeks to go! Baby's length is now compared to the size of an ear of corn... she is just about a foot long and should weigh over a pound. Speaking of size, she must have had a major growth spurt over the weekend, or she must have figured out how to stretch, because I was the most uncomfortable I've been in my pregnancy thus far. I'm assuming the constant lower abdominal pressure I felt were all the ligaments stretching making room for growing baby. That, or she really loved pushing really hard against the wall of my belly. I'd say too, that our little one has definitely become more active these last two weeks... I'm starting to feel Baby B move a lot more! It is also noted that our baby is still on the lean side right now, but will start to plump up soon.

Baby's brain is growing quickly, taste buds continue to develop, and lungs are forming branches of respiratory tree (as well as cells that produce surfactant - a substance that will help lungs inflate once baby enters outside world.) Baby B's skin is still translucent, but that will start to change soon. Boy do I love these weekly developments!

Thunderstorm

I love afternoon showers in the spring and summer, especially when accompanied by thunder! Thunderstorms are a rare occurrence here in NorCal, but we actually had one yesterday afternoon! Reminded me of home! I love how you can smell the rain coming in, have a few sprinkles... and then a massive downpour. The sky gets kind of dark, and then you hear that wonderful sound... loud rumbles from the sky above! I can't wait to move back to the east coast where these storms will come and go more frequently! Then the storm clears and the temperature remains a few degrees cooler than before the storm arrived. And all is well with the world. One of God's many gifts which I adore. Did I mention I love thunderstorms?

Mango Madness

23 week update: Baby B's size now compares to that of a large mango... over 11 inches long and should weigh over a pound. Her sense of movement is well developed and it's said that if I were to dance around she could feel the swing of my sway. Also, her hearing is keen and certain sounds are starting to become familiar to her. Guess she should be used to Takota barking at the garbage truck by now. I think our puppy feels that the garbage monster is going to come plowing through our front window and attack. He really doesn't like watching the big machine on our street...

Early In The Morning

It's 2:20 A.M. and I cannot sleep! Oh, how I wish I could sleep! I guess I could look at being awake at this time as preparation for arrival of baby. Speaking of Baby B, I think she had the hiccups for the very first time the other night... made me giggle. Her kicks are getting stronger now. I just love feeling her move around inside of me. I am so thankful for this blessing. I absolutely love being pregnant, even though there are a few discomforts along the way... I am just so overjoyed with the whole process of becoming a mom!

22 Weeks Preggo

We are now 22 weeks along in the pregnancy; 18 more to go! Baby B should now measure around 11 inches in length and weigh about a pound. Our baby's skin will be wrinkly until she develops a layer of fat to smooth things out. Her eyes are formed, but the irises still lack color. And her pancreas, responsible for producing important hormones, is developing steadily.

Celebrated my first Mother's Day this past Sunday. I think it will feel a little more official next year when I am holding Baby B in my arms instead of carrying her around in my belly. Matt gave me a wonderful back massage upon waking Sunday morning... it was much needed as I start to get uncomfortable these days laying in bed. Then, he made his delicious breakfast casserole for us. He also made me lunch and grilled steak (my favorite) for dinner! Also, surprised me with a card and a romantic comedy to watch while snuggled up on the sofa. I have the world's most wonderful husband! He is so good to me! Hope all the other fabulous moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Good Night!

Working Out?

I think the baby is doing a kick-boxing workout in my belly. I have never felt so much repetitious movement from her before! I love it! Every time she moves it makes me giggle! Had yummy, yummy meatloaf with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies tonight for dinner. Ate a lot! Don't tell me baby is trying to work that off already! She should know that if she gets my genes, she won't have to work off any food for a long time!

This Little Carrot Is Good For The Eyes

Carrots are good for the eyes, yes? Well, this week (my 21st week of pregnancy... 19 to go...) our little baby girl's length is compared to that of a carrot. Looking at my belly and reflecting on ultrasound photos of Baby Girl B on the inside is definitely good for my eye-sight! I am just so happy being pregnant! Baby B is supposed to be around 10.5 inches long and should weigh around 3/4 of a pound. Her fluttering movements have already turned into kicks and nudges. I love how Matt and I can feel her nudging into the side of my belly! Sometimes she will move away in response, other times it seems as if she nudges harder against our hands! Her eyebrows and lids are now present, and her girl parts are becoming more girlie. Think I already mentioned the spider veins and leg cramps... and the belly continues to grow. Love it, love it, love it!

Saturday night, Matt and I went into the city for a little visit with my best friend and her mom who are out visiting from the east coast. We went to see WICKED while in San Fran together. What a wonderful production! Kind of made me miss high school theatre. The character with the best lines, that made me laugh the most, was Glinda. Her gestures and mannerisms had me rolling too! So thankful for a wonderful evening with friends!

Tonight we are having fajitas for dinner! I wish the hubby would have made his delicious homemade salsa... but he didn't have enough time. Oh well... another day. Can't wait to eat. I'm so hungry!

Walked around the duck pond today and saw a little baby duck swimming in the water. "Ducki" as I so affectionately called her was absolutely adorable! Peeping and fluttering to try to catch dinner. Made me laugh.

What a good day. Relaxing tonight at home with Matt. Life is grand!
