Warp-Speed Pitter-Patter

Along with the onset of "Momnesia," I have also noticed that the old ticker goes into warp-speed pitter-patter mode at the drop of a pin. I find that I am more jumpy lately and scare more easily. I never used to startle at little things before. It's as if my heart wants to fly out of my chest and race to the nearest safety zone... and drag my body behind it out of harms way. Only, there is no disaster lurking. But lately, I just have this unknown hyper-panic mode that sets in with the slightest of "boos" and I am left panting for air. For example, last night I was walking up the stairs and proceeded to enter our dark bedroom. My dark reflection in the mirror nearly gave me a heart attack, even though I have seen that same dark reflection every other time I have ever entered our bedroom at night. Oh, and this story is funny: When we were in Vegas, the very first time I used the toilet in our hotel room and flushed... I thought I was going to get sucked in. I was doubled over the counter trying to catch my breath because it startled me so badly. (And it startled me that badly every time!) I am not a jumpy person by nature, so this is all new territory for me. Pregnancy hormones have me in uncharted waters lately and send my heart a-racing with all of the little pop-ups. Seriously, a little jack-in-the-box would probably send me through the roof. It's amazing how the mind and body change during pregnancy.
